The Advertising and Design cluster of programs offers the student who is interested in employment in the exciting advertising industry, a comprehensive array of programs with pathways to several credentials. Graduates from the 2-year Advertising Media Sales Diploma are well prepared for careers in the buying and selling of advertising space across all media.

For those interested in the creative side, graduates of the 2-year Advertising & Graphic Design Diploma readily secure entry-level jobs. The 3-year Graphic Design Advanced Diploma prepares graduates for careers as graphic designers and the 3-year Package & Graphic Design Advanced Diploma has direct links to the dynamic packaging industry.

For those seeking more depth and breadth, the 4-year Creative Advertising Bachelor’s Degree provides it. The Advertising Copywriting Graduate Certificate enables those with an undergraduate degree to hone their writing skills specifically for advertising.

Communications

The School of Media Studies and Information Technology offers a wide range of programs in the field of communications. Courses range from Journalism to Radio Broadcasting to Film and Television and Photography. We also have certificates in Post Production and Media Foundations.

In addition to diplomas and certificates our school also offers fee-for-service training for industry and evening courses for the general public.

Training takes place in state-of-the art facilities including a new $2 million broadcast centre and digital newsroom. Students receive hands on teaching which is delivered by industry professionals.

Industry standard equipment and software is used to provide the learning outcomes needed to find jobs in a competitive industry. The School of Media Studies and Information Technology has strong ties to the industry and each of our programs offers internships that provide valuable work place experience.

Digital Arts & New Media

Canadians have earned an international reputation in the field of Digital Arts and New Media.  Humber will prepare you to achieve both the technical skills and professional portfolio that will allow you to pursue a creative career in this thriving industry. This field includes sectors such as web design and development, Internet technologies, rich media, 3D animation, interactive games, digital design, and digital art/illustration. Companies are actively recruiting skilled Humber graduates who can deliver content to this multi-billion dollar industry.

New media programs delivered at Humber are developed in consultation with industry leaders and are enhanced through unique partnerships and agreements with major companies such as Adobe, Apple Canada, Autodesk, Hewlett Packard, Dell Canada, and Vicon Motion Systems. Humber is the only College in Canada listed on the Adobe website as an Authorized Training Centre. Our active participation in the new media community ensures that our curriculum prepares graduates for jobs. Your career in new media begins at Humber.

Information Technology

The information technology cluster has a broad arrange of programs to fulfill the needs of individuals wanting to develop a career in the IT industry.  A combination of 2-year Diplomas, 3-year Advanced Diplomas, and Postgraduate programs suit a wide range of educational and needs.  Students are taught by highly qualified IT professionals with strong academic and professional backgrounds.  Disciplines including game programming, computer programming, software development, web development and database management, develop highly-skilled and knowledgeable IT professionals that will be ready to make positive contributions to Industry from the get go.

Public Relations

The Public Relations cluster of programs offers the student, who is interested in employment in the dynamic public relations industry, three pathways to several credentials. Graduates from the 3-year Public Relations Advanced Diploma are well prepared for careers in crisis management, media relations, and event planning.

For those with an undergraduate degree, the 1-year Public Relations Graduate Certificate enables graduates to readily enter the faced-paced world of corporate communications, public affairs, media relations, and event management.

The 1-year Fundraising & Volunteer Management Graduate Certificate trains students to plan and manage comprehensive fundraising campaigns for the corporate, public, and not-for-profit sectors.
