Humber grads Armagan Tekdoner and Sampath Ranaweera have helped design and build the Toronto Nepali Film Festival Web site. TNFF envisions of becoming an important voice for the rapidly growing vibrant independent Nepali filmmaking sector/culture in Nepal. Our goal is to provide a platform for promoting filmmakers and films on Nepal (documentary, feature films, shorts); use films as a medium to break open mainstream West’s simplistic portrayal of Nepal (as land of Buddha, Sherpa or Everest, or a ‘failed state’ of late) by educating our audience about Nepal’s diversity, beauty and complexity; and finally, add an alternative voice to the vibrant scene of arts and culture for which Toronto is globally renowned. The festival starts March 17 2012. For more information go to www.tnff.ca
