With Humber's Graphic Design for Print and Web program, you will develop a diverse and complete skill set that will help you gain a competitive edge in this dynamic field. With training in industry standard graphic applications for both print and digital design, this hands-on curriculum features expert instruction using the latest Adobe Creative Suite applications, such as Adobe Photoshop, Adobe Illustrator, Adobe InDesign, Adobe Dreamweaver and Adobe Flash.
The courses, theory and principles of design are complemented by multiple practical assignments and real-world projects such as designing a magazine publication for tablet devices, developing an on-shelf box package and, ultimately, creating an online portfolio website using industry standard practices in Hypertext Markup Language (HTML/HTML5), Cascading Style Sheets (CSS and CSS3).
The online portfolio project will showcase your print and digital design projects, in addition to, your web design and development abilities. Students will also learn the fundamentals of typography for both print and web, design fundamentals and the latest web standards and best practices. Your design education will also include in-depth preparation for pursuing employment. Your instructors will guide you on how to network effectively with employers, build and write an effective resumé, help you with branding yourself as a designer for freelance work and how to optimally present your portfolio for various types of positions.
