Course Code: ANMN 254
Academic Year: 2017-2018
This course introduces 3D tracking and matchmoving. Combined with modelling, texturing, rendering and compositing, 3D matchmoving allows students to create VFX shots that integrate 3D imagery convincingly with live action footage. Colour matching, HDR imagery and other techniques that help add realism to the final work are also explored. Throughout this course, students learn to evaluate and execute the best way to approach a shot and what tools will provide a viable solution. Using examples similar to those found in productions, course instruction covers topics such as colour space, bit depth and film format, advanced keying and despill techniques, blur and grain (the secret glue) and DOF (close versus far colour, contrast, saturation and environmental fog).
