This course takes the writing skills learned in the first semester to the next stage: it develops skills for producing video news reports and television newscast. Emphasis is placed on shooting good quality visuals, writing to pictures, interviewing on camera, planning and structuring scripts and combining all elements to produce strong video reports. Labs devoted to shooting and editing teach camera work and editing skills. Students also analyze the treatment of news stories seen on network newscasts. The workload in this course is heavy, so a serious commitment is needed to handle the quality and quantity of projects assigned over the semester.
