This course introduces students to the basics of making short films, expanding on the knowledge and skills gained in Film Survey and Photography + Video 1. Three short films are created. Students study the initial stages of pre-production; story development; basic scripting, in association with Scriptwriting + Storytelling; production design; location scouting; and organization. Production is introduced, including camera operations, in association with Photography + Video 2; basic lighting setups; and sound capture. Students gather images on digital cameras and then proceed with post-production, in association with Audio + Video Editing or Effects, using Adobe Premiere Pro and Audition software. Students learn how to execute basic edit techniques, create titles and credits, mix sound with picture and gain a basic understanding of post-production.
