This course will introduce you to the core concepts of vector-based drawing programs. Adobe Illustrator is the postscript drawing program that sets the standard for all subsequent applications of the sort. The application is used extensively in graphic design and digital prepress, where the images created are incorporated into page layout applications, digital imaging applications and websites or are used on their own. You will also learn to make use of the drawing tools; gain proficiency with the pen tool and control anchor and direction points; create and manipulate font outlines; convert scanned images into custom artwork; use keyboard shortcuts; create and apply masks; use colour and trap; manipulate viewing commands; apply and use filters; use Paint, Layer and Character palettes; and use the transformation tools.
