Graduates of any two-year diploma program at Humber who have attained a cumulative grade point average of 70% or greater will be eligible to enter year three of the 4-yr Bachelor of Applied Management (BAM) at the University of New Brunswick. Depending on the diploma program, students may be exempted from study in certain courses and therefore, requested to take alternate courses offered by the Faculty of Business.

Humber’s intensive Advertising and Graphic Design diploma program was developed to meet industry demand for advertising art directors and graphic designers with solid strategic, visual, conceptual, typographic and technical skills. Classes focus on these areas of study and emphasize important life skills such as creative thinking, problem solving, teamwork and presentation skills.
You will explore the many facets of visual communication including colour theory, conceptual process, typography, design, marketing strategies, interactive media and digital design through the use of current tools that meet industry standards. You will also have the unique opportunity to apply these skills in Humber’s real-world ad agency/design studio and experience linkage opportunities with both the Advertising Copywriting, and Advertising – Account Management programs. The first year of this program is shared with the three-year Graphic Design advanced diploma program which will offer you exposure to different areas of communication design before confirming a focus in your second year of study.
Our advisory committee, a group of experienced art directors and designers, provides regular review and input into our curriculum, ensuring our program is always on the cutting edge of industry developments. Many of our faculty are part-time instructors who spend their non-teaching time working in current day industry settings, allowing them to share their experiences and connections with you in the classroom every week.Courses Learning Outcomes

The unpaid 120-hour work placement normally takes place during the month following the last semester of study (May). You will research your field to take advantage of opportunities to market yourself to prospective employers to find your own work placement locally or abroad. You will be supported through this process by faculty advisors.
The Humber AdCentre was launched as a live lab to provide students with real work opportunities before entering the industry.
Instead of just being given just a grade for assignments, students are provided with a chance to work with real clients, on actual accounts, receiving first-hand experience in the field.
Working with established businesses will not only prepare students for the fast-paced excitement of the industry, but will also help develop portfolio work and reference points for interviews.

The field of advertising and graphic design offers you the opportunity to turn artistic flair and creative thinking into a rewarding career. Our world runs on media – corporate identities and brands, books, social media campaigns, magazines, logos, posters, and other graphic communications for both print and screen. Our graduates create and execute professional design and advertising work for advertising agencies, design studios, in-house design departments, marketing departments, digital studios and sales promotion companies. Freelance opportunities in art direction and design are expanding and can be very lucrative.
