The ability to execute effective communications strategies related to Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) is critical to the success of the public relations professional in the workplace. In this course students will develop their analytical and creative thinking skills through in-class case studies, group work and individual study. An outline of the central concepts included in CSR is provided in the beginning of the course. It provides a foundation from which students will gain skills in assessing, implementing, communicating and evaluating CSR strategies. Topics include the different approaches to CSR theory, sustainability, strategy assessment, engaging stakeholders, and the implementation and evaluation of CSR and their related communication initiatives. To complete the course students will participate in a seminar project designed to deepen their knowledge of key elements and considerations in building an organization's CSR activities and communication strategies.
