Humber is proud to have the highest graduate employment and employer satisfaction rate of the GTA colleges based on Colleges Ontario’s key performance indicators for college graduates in 2022-2023.

Program Overview

Humber's 3D Modelling and Visual Effects Production certificate program focuses on both the conceptual and the technical, as you learn to master visual techniques to bring ideas to life. You will develop skills in modelling, texturing and lighting, as well as in visual effects and compositing. We use a teaching process and course structure that requires content created in one course to be used to complete assignments in other courses. This “pipeline” process mirrors that of industry, allowing students to make a seamless transition into a real production environment.

The program is designed by CG and VFX artists for experienced traditional artists and/or anyone who is artistically and technically inclined and who want to either develop or transition their skillsets for employment in the 3D and visual effects industries. The faculty take their years of industry experience into the classroom, straight from the studio. Their collective experience and passion in the gaming, television and film industries is the driving force that ensures the program meets the current and future needs of the industry.

This program is not eligible for Ontario Student Assistance Program (OSAP). It is eligible for Better Jobs Ontario funding. Further details and how to apply are found at Better Jobs Ontario.

Asli Bulut

Growing up in the vibrant city of Ankara, Turkey, I discovered my passion for the cinema early on. This journey led me to Bilkent University, where I studied communication and design and I immersed myself in the world of media production. It didn't take long for me to realize that my true calling lay in becoming a producer, someone who could champion creatives in the tumultuous realm of film and television.

My academic adventure took an international turn when I participated in the Erasmus Exchange program at Bournemouth University, Media Production Department. It was during this time that a wise professor suggested I explore a career in Canada, citing its burgeoning film and TV industry. Following this advice, I took a leap of faith and immigrated to Canada at the age of 23, enrolling in the Film and TV Business program at Centennial College.

The beginning of my Canadian journey was unconventional, to say the least. I found my first foothold in the film and TV industry through a babysitting website, a testament to the unpredictable nature of career beginnings. My perseverance led me to Mavericks VFX, where I spent four transformative years. Starting as a receptionist, I climbed the ranks to become a CG production coordinator.

The onset of the COVID-19 pandemic brought unexpected challenges, and I faced job loss with the additional pressure of a looming work permit expiration. Undeterred, I reached out to a contact I had made five years earlier during the TAAFI Industry Conference. A cold email paved the way for a new opportunity, and I found myself as a production co-ordinator in a company where proving my competence was solely through online channels.

My contributions to the industry continued to grow. I became a board member at TAAFI in 2021, creating grants application strategies for their annual events.

In the midst of the pandemic, I played a crucial role in the production of Daniel Spellbound for Netflix, an experience that eventually led to my promotion to development manager at Industrial Brothers. Here, I navigated the challenges of developing new IPs amid a recession, streaming wars, the largest industry strike in a century, and the ever-looming AI revolution.
